WCE Tours Washington, D.C.
In July, WCE had the opportunity to perform in Fairfax, VA which is just a few short miles from Washington, D.C. Of course, being the Expeditionists that we are, we decided to travel to the area a little early and take in some sight seeing. Short of feeling like we were actually playing roles in the movie "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles", we finally made it to D.C. and had a great time. Needless to say, our guide from "All About Town" Tours was maybe the highlight of the day. We were a little freaked out when he turned the bus onto a 2 way street traveling on the wrong side of the road. But according to him, that is acceptable during certain times of the day. I guess he was right because he drove that way for the majority of the tour and never got a ticket.
We got to see just about every important building in D.C. and I must say, the architecture is outstanding! We could have easily spent a week and still would have not seen everything. We did however have the opportunity to snap some photos, visit the White House Visitors Center, The Capitol and The Smithsonian's Museum of American History. That fascinated me the most. We saw everything from Abraham Lincoln's hat and Martha Washington's Inaugural ball gown to a red sweater worn by Mister Rogers and my personal favorite, the "Puffy Shirt" worn by Jerry Seinfeld.
It was definitely an action packed 7 hours. Thank goodness Bobby thought of running down the road to grab some Dunkin' Donuts for us before we left for the big adventure because we were some hungry folks by the time we got back to the hotel at 2pm. It was a great experience and I encourage everyone to take some time and visit our Nation's Capitol. There is a lot to see and something for everyone!! Hope you enjoy our pictures. We will be adding more over the next few weeks so be sure to check back!

Blake, Kimberly and Bobby ready for a big adventure!

Ths is the "Archives of The United States of America" Building where all of our country's historical documents including the Declaration Of Independence are housed.

This is one of the statues outside the "Archives" building. There are magnificent statues of historical figures all over the D.C. area.

Kimberly poses with several United States Marines outside The White House grounds.

Bobby, Wayne and Blake pose for a picture in front of The White House.

These are the original Ruby Slippers worn by Judy Garland in the movie "The Wizard Of Oz". This was taken inside the Smithsonian's Museum Of American History.

I could not pass this one up. This squirrel was enjoying some M&Ms that someone threw in the garbage can outside the Capitol. Yes, we were really that close to him!
