DJ Reviews
On this page we will share some of the comments we have received from Bluegrass DJs playing Williams & Clark Expedition's Music.
Many thanks, as always, for sending us a copy of your new project, which I think is your best to date. The sublime vocals, hard-driving instrumentation, interesting arrangements and killer original tracks make for spirited listening. I quite taken with the original material, particularly "Get Gone Blues," "Sad Is the Union" (probably my favorite), the title track and all the originals. I couldn't agree more with the sentiment expressed in "Graduation Prayer" (don't get me started!) and Blake's comedic bit was just hilarious. This is fine bluegrass and rest assured I'll be doing my best to see that it's played here in Nashville and in our other syndicated locations. My offer to come down and do a live taping for future airplay still stands, if and when you all ever get the chance.
Thanks again!

Many thanks for the new CD, which I have enjoyed immensely. The band crackles and the songs are played with energy and fire. The arrangements are creative, interesting and full of surprises (like the killer rendition of "Across the Blue Ridge Mountains"). You all have definitely further developed your own sound and have something really compelling and unique going on here. If I had to pick favorites I'd go with the two instrumentals (they rock!), "Around This Fire," "Let Me Fly Low" and the tunes written by Kimberly's dad, which are really special.
Dear Kimberly, This short note to let you know that I received a couple of days ago the CD you kindly sent. Thank you very much! This album is great and perfectly fits the format of my show.

This is the second album from Williams and Clark Expedition, and it avoids the “sophomore jinx.” With veterans Blake Williams (banjo) and Bobby Clark (mandolin) providing splendid instrumental work, augmented by the incredible Tim Crouch on fiddle (a great addition), the music flows with vocal leads from Kimberly Williams (bass) and Wayne Southwards (guitar). There’s a good mix of originals and composition from some of the great contemporary songwriters (John Hartford, Dixie Hall) and some of the great but lesser known ones (Billy Joe Foster, Keith Tew, Billy Smith, Jeff White and two from Kimberly’s dad, Phillip East) plus an old tune from Flatt and Scruggs and a Delmore Brothers tune. As a radio programmer, I can count on any cut from this album being a positive addition to my program (one minor complaint, coming from a radio person: it would be helpful if they included the times for each song). Watch for WCE to emerge as one of the great new acts in bluegrass music (even if the individuals aren’t all that new).

I sure regret not getting a
chance to meet the band at Bean Blossom! I'll make it a point to catch up with
you all at IBMA. I have a copy of "Born To Roam" and it sounds great. I've been
featuring it on the show every week since receiving it. I've enjoyed a healthy
number of requests to hear more, too! My ballot from IBMA arrived in the mail
today and you and your compadres can count on my vote for emerging artists, I
was very pleased to see you had made the cut. If you play anywhere within 100
miles of Indy please let me know and I'll add the date to our events calendar
and mention it on the air.
Take care and stay in touch, Cary Allen Fields

After listening to the entire new CD titled "Born to Roam" by Williams & Clark Expedition, it seems to me that they are on the trail to Bluegrass stardom. This is a great collection whose authenticity must be measured by the way it expresses the creativity of the singers and musicians alike. The vocals by Kimberly Williams are delivered smoothly and are extremely "easy to listen to". Williams & Clark are well on their way to the top of the mountain. All Bluegrass and Country fans will savor the sounds of the "Born to Roam" CD by Williams & Clark Expedition. It's a CD that's not only enjoyable but also inspirational.
